French Wines 101
Ah France. Where the vineyards go as far as the eye can reach and where a bottle of wine is included in any standard lunch. We are passionate about French wines and never skip the opportunity of opening a good bottle of red, white or rose from the wine country itself.
However, buying a bottle of French wine ourselves often comes with the obvious questions. Which one should I get? How much should I spend on it? What region is best? What can I learn from the label (except for judging its design)?
That’s why we offer a French Wines 101 course, designed to get you familiar with some basic principles of French wines. Our course is hosted by French sommelier Alexis Garaux, who brings more than 10 years of wine experience into his classes. Alexis has a unique way of sharing his passion about wines with you – and is happy to reveal his secrets when judging a bottle of wine.
What will you learn?
- How to read a wine label
- What the appellation concept is and how it effects wines
- How the quality of French wines is classified
- What bottle shapes can tell you about French wines
- All about the French wine regions and their different wines
How is the course divided?
We offer 5 simple lessons with short and explanatory videos, where Alexis walks you through different concepts. You can take the different lessons at your own pace, and rewatch them as many times as you like.
In addition, you will be able to leave comments and ask questions, and we will offer you support with sommelier Alexis for all your other wine-related questions.
